Kim Kardashian Calls For Release Of Death Row Inmate
Kim Kardashian is continuing her advocacy for criminal justice. She is now calling for the release of Julius Jones, who is currently on death row in Oklahoma for the 1999 murder of a white man.
On her Instagram, Kardashian wrote, “I was honored to sit with Julius Jones on death row in Oklahoma last week and then spend some time at church with his family. Julius has been incarcerated for over 21 years for a crime he did not commit.”
She continued, “I pray the parole board recommends his commutation because this man needs to be able to hug his parents again. The last time Julius’s parents hugged him was when he was 19. That was 21 years ago.”
She also added, “Julius broke down in tears when he spoke of his sister Antoinette @sassysoulinc, he promised her he would take her to prom and because of wrongful conviction he was unable to take her! We need to get him out and plan the best prom ever!!!”
Kardashian closed with, “I’m so thankful for the most supportive freedom fighters for Julius Jones. We won’t stop until we get justice.”

In 2002, at only 19, Jones was sentenced to death for the 1999 murder of Paul Howell, a white businessman from Oklahoma City, during a carjacking. Jones has always maintained he had nothing to do with the crime.
Julius Jones’ case received widespread attention after a Viola Davis-produced docu-series called The Last Defense aired in 2018. It covered the case in-depth, while the Julius Jones Coalition helped draw more than 6 million signatures to a Change.org petition calling for Jones to be freed.
According to Yahoo, Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter said that “every criticism surrounding his case has been disproven.”
He also stated, “Celebrity endorsements and biased documentaries cannot erase the facts of the case that overwhelmingly prove Julius Jones killed Paul Howell in cold blood… Jones had his day in court and has exhausted his appeals at every level. He committed this horrific crime and now must serve the sentence a jury of his peers deemed appropriate. I encourage those advocating for Jones, including Mrs. Kardashian West, to research the case.”
